Day 1 : Lyon
Arrive at Lyon towards the end of the afternoon.
Settle into your ***hotel in the centre of Lyon. Dinner and first night in your hotel.
Free evening: You will be able to use your “Lyon en fête” transport pass and the light festival map that you will have received to travel around freely in the heart of the peninsula and the old city of Lyon to discover the Great Light Festival.

Day 2 : Lyon
Guided panoramic tour of Lyon : this is an exceptional city shaped by 2000 years of history and recently listed as one of the worldwide UNESCO world heritage centres, as are Venice, Prague, Port or St. Petersburg.
Take a trip up to Fourvière. On the way, stop at the Fourvière archaeological park, where the Roman amphitheatre and odeon stand- the only set of its kind in France. Commentary is given from inside the coach. At the top of the hill, take in the splendid panoramic view of the city.  You will visit the basilica, one of the most impressive buildings of the 19th century, built in homage to the virgin Mary.  Lunch at the famous “Brasserie Georges”.  Walk around the old side of Lyon. This preserved area spanning over 24 acres takes you on a ride back through the Renaissance period.  Explore the narrow, cobbled lanes, les traboules, Lyon’s typical passageways, the outside of St John’s cathedral… Then time to go back to the hotel. Dinner. Free evening: You will be able to use your “Lyon en fête” transport pass and the light festival map that you will have received to travel around freely in the heart of the peninsula and the old city of Lyon to discover the Great Light Festival. Night at the hotel.

Day 3 : Lyon
Coach tour around Lyon to explore the “trompe-l’œil” illusions: a world of images, poetry, art which are available for all to see. The tour continues to the Etats Unis area where you will walk around the Tony Garnier Urban Museum. Visit the council estate buildings built by the architect, Tony Garnier and discover 24 walls painted to honour him. Three major themes are covered: the industrial estate, major works in Lyon and ideal cities, UNESCO has awarded the Tony Garnier Urban Museum the label of “worldwide decade of cultural development”. Lunch in a “bouchon” (typical Lyon restaurant).
